Privacy Policy
Updated November 3, 2026. GelaTube is an independent library for exploring Ray Peat’s work and related community discussions. It is not affiliated with Google, YouTube, Vimeo, or X.
Information we use
Signing in with X shares your stable account ID, current display name, username, and profile picture. We store your GelaTube bookmarks, opened-video history, watch and skip activity where enabled, ratings, follows, comments, preferences, and video submissions in our database. Public profiles, submissions, comments, ratings totals, and follow totals are visible to other visitors. Bookmarks, history, and recommendation signals are account data; followed accounts’ activity can influence their followers’ recommendations.
We use this data to provide accounts, sync your library, moderate abuse, and personalize recommendations. We do not sell personal data. Our hosting and authentication providers process requests to operate and secure the service.
Video providers and other services
GelaTube uses YouTube API Services. YouTube embeds and Vimeo embeds may collect device, network, cookie, and playback information, and may serve advertisements. Privacy-enhanced YouTube embeds reduce some collection before interaction; they do not make playback anonymous. Google Fonts requests may disclose your IP address to Google. Site hosting, authentication, and email delivery providers process the data necessary for their services. The site’s IP burst guard is held briefly in process memory and is not saved in our database or application logs; infrastructure providers may keep their own security logs.
Device storage and location
Sign-in uses secure cookies. Local theme choices use device storage; account bookmarks and history are stored on the server. Optional device location stays in memory on your device and is used only for sunrise, sunset, and theme calculations. GelaTube does not transmit or save those coordinates or use IP geolocation to store a city.
Controls and retention
You can clear your history, remove bookmarks or ratings, unfollow accounts, delete comments, sign out of all devices, or delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your profile, personal activity, and comments; other people’s replies remain with an anonymous placeholder, and contributed video links remain attributed to GelaTube. These actions do not delete anything from YouTube, Vimeo, or X. Server sessions expire after one day. Moderation bans retain a stable X account ID to prevent evasion.
We refresh or remove cached YouTube metadata within 30 days. Automatic YouTube watch/skip/history collection is disabled until a fresh check confirms a video is not made for kids. Contact submissions are used only to respond and resolve requests, are sent privately to the operator when email delivery is configured; pending messages remain in the protected contact inbox, and are deleted from our contact queue within 90 days. Email copies may remain until the request is resolved.
Contact and deletion requests
Use the contact form for privacy questions, data-access requests, deletion requests, or content corrections. Do not include passwords, API keys, or sensitive medical information. We may request account verification before processing a request. Deletion requests are handled as soon as possible and within seven days where YouTube policy requires it.
