Videos are compared using generated tags. Specific shared tags carry more weight than broad topics.

• Watch time: The more you watch a video, the less often it is recommended, while similar videos get a boost.
• Skipping: Scrolling past a video without opening it lowers its chances and those of similar videos.
• Bookmarks: Saving an unwatched video boosts it and similar videos. Once watched, the bookmark boosts only similar videos.
• Ratings: Likes boost only similar videos. Dislikes lower the rated video and similar videos. Ratings affect only you and people who follow you.
• Following: Videos added, bookmarked, or commented on by people you follow get a boost, along with similar videos. Their likes boost only similar videos; their dislikes lower the rated video and similar videos. Follows are on GelaTube only.
• Recency: Recently added videos get a boost that halves every seven days.

Category filters limit the candidates. “More videos” also favors videos similar to the one you’re viewing. Some randomness keeps the results varied.

Signed-out users get the same ranking without account signals such as watch time, skips, bookmarks, and ratings.
